Planning a fall getaway sometime soon in Wisconsin? We've compiled some of the more popular destinations and routes so that you're prepared for drive time and distance, and have included stops along the way for your added convenience.
For those of you residing in the lower part of the state, Wisconsin drive times will be a bit more of a bear, should you have your eye on the many northern retreats, lodges, parks, or attractions our incredible state has to offer--but don't let that keep you from gathering with friends or family for an extedended weekend wandering around! Not sure you want to spend it all outdoors? This part of Northern Wisconsin boasts lots of museums and the Isle Vista Casino, for when weather is inclement or you're feeling lucky.
Average drive time from Lake Geneva to Madeline Island will run you a cool 7 and a half hours via I-39, and stops along the way including Appleton and Wausau might set you back another hour or so. Plan on a full day of travel if you were hoping to zip from Southern Wisconsin all the way up north.
Drive time from East to West--and vice versa--is considerably more manageable, with plenty of things to see and do along the way. While one of the longer Wisconsin drive times can be found between Milwaukee and Eau Claire (3 hours and 40 minutes, via low traffic on I-94), it's absoutely worth the trouble just to be able to pop into the glorious Wisconsin Dells for a mid-day or late morning break. Budgeting an extra hour or two of driving time for the Dells is an easy decision to make, while still being a considerably easy commute.
